How does one define Missions?

Missions is the sending forth of authorized persons beyond the borders of the New Testament church and her immediate gospel-destitute areas, to win converts from other faiths or non-faiths to Jesus Christ, and to establish functioning, multiplying local congregations who will bear the fruit of Christianity in that community and to the country.

All of the West Park Core Values culminate in our passion to make disciples:

  • In our Jerusalem - across the street
  • In our Judea and Samaria - across the city
  • To the end of the earth - across the globe

At West Park, we commit 10% of all tithes to invest in worldwide missions. In addition, we encourage our church family to give offerings above their tithe, to further maximize the open doors that God directs us through across the nations. Added together, these funds allow us to support and work with about 45 missionaries, national partners and agencies. We believe in developing solid long-term relationships with those we support. We endeavor to assist them in as many ways as possible.

Global Impact Strategy

1. Developing and caring for our Missionary Family.
It is our goal to facilitate personal and ministry relationships with our supported missionaries. We consider them ministry partners as well as family. We desire to provide prayer, encouragement, care, and counsel, in addition to financial support.

2. Developing National Partnerships.
In addition to our own missionaries, WPBC will intentionally build working relationships with national ministry leaders who share our doctrinal and ministry perspectives.

3. Promoting global missions and missionary service to our own congregation.
We prayerfully plan to promote, train, enlist prayer support for, and call out our own, as the Holy Spirit leads from among the children, students, and adults of WPBC.

Elements of Our Ministry

Monthly Prayer Insert
We gather relevant prayer requests continually from our missionary family and insert a prayer guide monthly into the bulletin. We believe prayer is critical for our missionaries. Prayer guides are available all month at the Welcome Center.

Senders Group
For missionaries who are sent from WP, we pull together a team of interested people that provide attentive care and encouragement for that missionary family.

ABF Adopt a Missionary
This is the place for prayer and care! Each ABF is given an adopted missionary to minister to over the course of the year. Each ABF has a Missions Board in their room with ongoing information, pictures, and newsletters. They also have a Missionary Liaison who spearheads the group's interaction with their missionary. The ABF sends cards, gifts, calls, and prayers to encourage those on the field. Adopted missionaries are switched each year at the Global Impact Conference to allow others the opportunity to get to know several missionaries.

Global Impact Conference
Each spring, several of our missionaries are invited to join us for a week of information, encouragement, dynamic services, and plenty of time to rub shoulders with the WPBC family. As we hear their hearts and meet with their families, we are always drawn closer and more fervently in our prayer for them. It is a great time to put on your calendar.

Short-Term Mission Trips (STMT)
One of the greatest ways to help our missionaries and build into the WPBC family is through sending teams of WP people across the globe to minister alongside our missionaries. Each year, we prayerfully send several teams to multiple locations to serve. The trips are varies but focus on carrying out our Core Values of Gospel and Missional Living.

Special Projects
On occasion, we focus church-wide efforts on helping our missionaries with specific projects they are working on. Often, the VBS kids target one of these projects for raising funds.

Global Impact Leadership Team (GMLT)
This group of dedicated volunteers, who are passionate about global missions, assist the Pastor of Mobilization in carrying out the policies, procedures and funds of the Global Impact Ministry.

Missions Table
A table located in the Welcome Center has ever-changing information, forms, etc. Above it is the map portraying general locations of our missionary family.

Children's Global Impact Focus
Children's Worship and AWANA both have a monthly emphasis on global missions. Every elementary Sunday School class has an adopted MK (missionary kid) to correspond with.
