Prayer Ministry

thumbnail_prayerministryLord, teach us to pray. -- Luke 11:1

In Luke 11:1, one of Christ's disciples asked, "Lord, teach us to pray." This same desire for prayer instruction sounds in the hearts of believers today. As we search for ways to draw closer to our Savior, we would like to share a few resources on the discipline and pursuit of a passionate life of prayer. Our hope is that these teachings will help enrich your prayer life and walk with the Lord.

Prayer is an important work of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:27;34). If not for the example of Christ and the Spirit alone, we are commanded to pray for several other reasons.

  • Prayer transforms us.
  • Prayer brings growth.
  • Prayer changes things.

Each week prayer requests and answers to prayer from all over the world come to West Park by prayer cards submitted during the Sunday worship services, through the website and email, by telephone through the 300-PRAY (865-300-7729) hotline, by calls to the church, and by letters to the church.

The Upper Room

The Upper Room offers you two venues from which to pray: at the church, or at home via the internet. Our goal is to have intercessors praying 24 hours a day! As part of this ministry, you commit one hour a week to pray over the hundreds of prayer requests we receive. You may either come to the church and use the Prayer Room or pray from home using West Park's Online Prayer Module.

The Boiler Room

The Boiler Room is our Sunday prayer ministry. Teams meet during each of our Sunday services to ask for God’s anointing power and guidance for our Pastor and our worship services, the Holy Spirit’s conviction, and the movement of God on behalf of the prayer requests submitted during each service. Individuals may be assigned one service each month or each quarter.
