Connecting Health And Faith

Caring Connections is a ministry to connect the compassion of Christ with the physical needs of our community and church family.

As instructed by Christ, the local church has always been a place for God’s people to receive nurture and care. It is the one place in today’s society where people meet each week for healing. At West Park, our spiritual, emotional and social needs are met through messages from God’s Word, our Adult Bible Fellowships, our ever-growing Connections groups, and fellowship with one another. An additional link in our desire to meet the needs of individuals and encourage them to grow in all areas is the physical link. This additional aspect emphasizes the interrelationship of the body, mind and spirit–that health involves everything a person does, thinks, and feels, and is not just the absence of disease.

Health Resource Coordinator

In partnership with Baptist Hospital, we now have a Health Resource Coordinator, Vonda Jennings, to direct our Health Ministry and work with local health professionals to provide direction in the following areas:

• Encourage preventive care and education
• Serve as liaison to community health events and resources
• Coordinate volunteers with Caring Connections
• Work with our Senior Adult Pastor to provide assistance for our Senior Adults and shut-ins
• Assist with the Compassion Ministry
• Coordinate Health Events within the Congregation

Medic Blood Drive

What better way for our church family to physically give of themselves to the community than through blood donations? Periodically throughout the year we host the Medic Blood Drive.

Health Events

With the cost of health care continuing to increase, free health screenings and lab tests are quite a relief! Sponsored and conducted by community health sources, these tests are available to those in our church family as well as the community.

Informed Decisions

In addition to providing events related to health care, we also provide informational meetings to assist our church family in areas such as Organ Donation, Advance Funeral Planning, Living Wills, dealing with memory loss, and other topics of interest. These sessions are available periodically to adults of all ages.
