Mission

Hope Resource Center is a non-profit Christian ministry addressing the issues of sexual purity and health, unplanned pregnancy, and Post-Pregnancy Counseling and Services, Medical Clinic, and Restoring Hearts Post-Abortion Ministry. Their mission is to minister to the medical, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of both women and men facing with unconditional love and practical help.

Abstinence Education

Devastating numbers of teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted disease, infertility, and heartache… The good news is that teen pregnancy rates in Knox County have been declining for the past nine years. We believe that Hope Resource Center’s abstinence education program has greatly contributed to this decrease.

We are dedicated to teaching the most direct and accurate information regarding sexual health to the next generation. The goal of our program is to help prevent the problems associated with teen sexual activity by equipping youth to make the best choices for healthy lives. Our volunteer speakers’ bureau is comprised on nurses, physicians, and other guest speakers who present the message of abstinence until marriage.

We are the recipient for Knox County of the Federal Title V grant for abstinence only education programs, and we are endorsed by the Tennessee State Department of Health. Our original “Just the Facts…Just Wait” curriculum is presented in public high schools, middle schools, and to other youth and civic groups in the Knoxville area.

Pregnancy Counseling Services

Women in unplanned pregnancies come to Hope Resource Center feeling a variety of emotions – overwhelmed, confused, scared, or hopeless. We provide free, confidential services to these women in a non –judgemental, caring atmosphere. Our clients receive free pregnancy testing, confidential pregnancy counseling to discuss all of their options, and educational services. Hope Resource Center counselors are always ready to listen to their clients’ concerns and to support them unconditionally, whatever decision they make regarding their pregnancy. Our goal is to help women make healthy choices for their lives.

Other available services include peer support groups and educational classes, earned material assistance (for baby items, etc.) through our coupon program, information and referrals to other needed services during their pregnancy.

Medical Clinic

All medical services at Hope Resource Center are provided by licensed, advanced-practice medical professionals. Women in unplanned pregnancies who are considering abortion may receive a pregnancy confirmation exam and limited ultrasound to verify a viable pregnancy. They may also have testing for sexually transmitted disease (STD). Each women receives relevant medical information regarding pregnancy, abortion, fetal-development and other related medical issues. Referrals for prenatal care and primary care physicians are provided to clients who will be carrying to term.

Students referred from our abstinence program presentations can receive testing and treatment for STDs in our medical clinic along with additional counseling regarding abstinence and sexual health.

Restoring Hearts Post-Abortion Ministry

Millions of women and men in the United States experience an unresolved grief associated with the loss of a child due to abortion. This pain often increases with time and life changes, and can lead to depression anger, guilt, denial, and self-destructive behaviors. Hope Resource Center has developed and implemented a new women’s program to meet and need expressed by many of our clients.

Peer facilitation lead a small, confidential group through a twelve-lesson, Biblically based study. The purpose is to offer a place of refuge for participants to share their experiences and how their lives have been impacted by them; to discuss the symptoms of post abortion stress; to deal with grief issues and develop the tools necessary to work through them; and to bring emotional and spiritual healing.
