Specialized Teaching And Reinforcement (STAR)
Sundays, 11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Where: Modular C
Age Level: Up to 5th Grade**
Our STAR class is designed to meet the needs of children with disabilities that preclude them from participating in regular programming. We offer a reverse inclusion model, which means we bring peers into the STAR class to interact with our special and unique students. Our teachers and volunteers are highly trained and experienced. Our classroom environment is organized to stimulate as well as calm our students. A variety of materials and strategies are included and available for our students.
We are committed to teaching our students that they are unique and valuable in the eyes of God (John 9:1-3). We seek to teach and communicate the Bible and its principles on a level that our students can understand. Our goal is for each of our students to develop an understanding of God and Jesus Christ in some form or fashion and grow spiritually.
Students with mild disabilities or those with developed social/language skills are encouraged to integrate into the regular programming with buddies and/or supports as needed.
**Children age birth-Kindergarten are integrated into the nursery and preschool department until it is no longer an appropriate setting. If your child is preschool-Kindergarten age and is unable to attend a regular preschool class, please contact Shari Cate for placement.
